Roughing it

Can you tell that I've been laptop-less for a few months???  Probably not, but it's the horrible truth.

One morning, as I lifted the screen of my much beloved (but elderly) macbook, the backlight didn't come on!  So sad.  If I shined a light into the screen, I could see that everything looked fine.  You could say that my elderly laptop still had its mind, it just wasn't able to communicate with me very well anymore.  Again...  So sad.

Month #1: spent lamenting my loss, and determined to fix it...on my own...with the help of online articles and videos.  I mean really, how hard could it be?  I replaced my hard drive without a hitch for goodness sakes...  And that's the equivalent of brain surgery right?  On a macbook I mean...

Month #2: spent doing everything BUT figuring out what parts to order, how to actually begin the diagnosis, and beginning the operation.  Really, when you think about it, eye surgery might be even more complicated than brain surgery, and that's the equivalent of my current undertaking.  Especially when you aren't entirely sure what is wrong!

Month #3: spent casually checking the refurbished 13inch macbook pros listed on the Apple site (no more regular macbooks for sale!), finding something suitable, waiting until the new release of macbook pros to push down the price, and BUYING A NEWish MACBOOK PRO!!!!!!

I still plan on fixing my old computer of course.  But honestly, when I really think about it, this was possible the best time to replace my macbook...  Before I get hitched to this devilishly handsome (but macbook-indifferent bordering on the intolerant) young man.
