Married and Moved!

Well, in case you weren't at my September 1st wedding, or crossing the days off your calendar, I'm married now!  That's right, I'm Mrs. Jennifer Brown.  Well...  Let's just say that I am.  I'm having some difficulties with that transition to be quite honest.  No, I'm not having second thoughts about changing my surname to my beloved husband's, I'm literally having difficulties changing my name!

Apparently, this does not happen automatically.  Seriously?  My workplace, the DMV, the social security office, and the bank all want something different, and I feel like I'm playing a computer game to get everything I need in the right order.  So tedious.

Anyway, enough about the red tape of being joined in matrimony, let's get to the blog-worthy post-marriage updates.  I've moved almost all of my earthly possessions to my new home!  Isn't it adorable :)  Just look at the hastas!  We've obviously got a lot that we want to do, but I still think it's adorable.  Mr. Brown put on those shutters just for me.  I've always wanted a house with shutters!

After using our bridal shower money to buy my lovely new-to-me stove (please see a bit of it below), and setting up all of our kitchen-related gifts, we've got a working kitchen and I'm thinking about about cooking.  Yeah yeah, I'll get to it.

Here's a peek at the rest of the house...  But that's all your getting!  I'm afraid all of those earthly possessions I mentioned earlier are still piled around.  I just keep bringing more over instead of putting things away.  I don't feel too bad about it though.  Mr. Brown will be leaving me for 4 months next Friday, October the 12th, so I'll have plenty of time to do it then.  Ugh.

It seriously feels like I've been wedding planning for about a year, and it's only been about 6 months!  I don't think I'd have done very well with a year long engagement, what appeal wedding planning did have is rapidly wearing off.  So many little things to worry about!

Well at least the invitations have been sent!  As you can see, I sat down and did my best to finish one of the most important steps of the wedding planning journey.  So at least people will know when it is, and where to show up on the big day.  With less than a month left, I'm rapidly making decisions that most brides have made with 6 months to go, and realizing that some decisions I was putting off have been completely forgotten!  For instance...  Boutonnieres!!!  I've gotta find a florist to deal with the guys' flowers!  Better get on that...

In other news...  I had my birthday this week!!!  Yay!!!!!!!  My Mr. Brown got me a sewing machine!  Now, don't you dare think that he had any ideas of me making all of our clothes from now on...  I wanted one!  So many plans...

Express Yourself!

One of the roads that a bride must venture down before the big day is the wedding cake topper road.  I must admit, I'd completely overlooked this particular detail until about a week ago.

I've been missing out!

The world of wedding cake toppers includes the strange and unusual, the adorable, and the creepy.  I would love to meet the people that chose some of these toppers.  Seriously, I would love to hear your stories 'people that have chosen these toppers!'  Have 20 minutes to kill and want to waste it on Google images?  Search for wedding cake toppers!

Obviously, the wedding cake topper I have chosen falls into the cute but classy category...in my head at least.  And no.  It is not pictured in my Wedding Topper Montage above.

But can I just say...  I love the birdies in the right bottom corner!!!  They are just precious.

Roughing it

Can you tell that I've been laptop-less for a few months???  Probably not, but it's the horrible truth.

One morning, as I lifted the screen of my much beloved (but elderly) macbook, the backlight didn't come on!  So sad.  If I shined a light into the screen, I could see that everything looked fine.  You could say that my elderly laptop still had its mind, it just wasn't able to communicate with me very well anymore.  Again...  So sad.

Month #1: spent lamenting my loss, and determined to fix it...on my own...with the help of online articles and videos.  I mean really, how hard could it be?  I replaced my hard drive without a hitch for goodness sakes...  And that's the equivalent of brain surgery right?  On a macbook I mean...

Month #2: spent doing everything BUT figuring out what parts to order, how to actually begin the diagnosis, and beginning the operation.  Really, when you think about it, eye surgery might be even more complicated than brain surgery, and that's the equivalent of my current undertaking.  Especially when you aren't entirely sure what is wrong!

Month #3: spent casually checking the refurbished 13inch macbook pros listed on the Apple site (no more regular macbooks for sale!), finding something suitable, waiting until the new release of macbook pros to push down the price, and BUYING A NEWish MACBOOK PRO!!!!!!

I still plan on fixing my old computer of course.  But honestly, when I really think about it, this was possible the best time to replace my macbook...  Before I get hitched to this devilishly handsome (but macbook-indifferent bordering on the intolerant) young man.

An Announcement!

Sooo...  I'm getting married!
I suppose this may be a bit of a surprise considering I've never even mentioned this young man here on my little piece of the net, but engaged I am!  And you know what this means don't you...

This means that this space may now be dedicated to wedding planning!  Maybe, we'll see :)

Last but not least...   LOOK AT MY RING!!!!!!

Saturdays at Home

Picked up this chair yesterday at the Bargain Barn in St. Joe.
Believe me, it was definitely a bargain!

Happy Saturday!  Today was the second Saturday afternoon at home that I've had in a row now, and it was lovely.  I did a bit of cleaning and re-arranging, and a few projects.  It was mostly just nice to know that I had the entire afternoon to spend on whatever I wanted.

Painted this for my aunt Carlene for her birthday last Saturday...  It had been awhile since I'd painted anything, so it was really nice to be doing it again!  I ended up putting it in a frame, and was amazed at just how much better something like this looks in a frame.  I really ought to start stocking up on frames...

Happy New Year!

So I finally got around to catching up with my Google reader blog list (368 unread posts at this point), and got inspired enough to write one myself!  Let me catch you all up...

The wedding ended up being just perfect, but not without a lot of hard work and drama on the uphill.  Yes, it was chaos up to about 5 minutes before my sister walked down the aisle, but honestly...it was not unexpected.  It's just how we do things around here!  There were wardrobe issues, hair issues, and most of the wedding party had a cold, including the bride.  But seriously, the ceremony was lovely!  Did I mention that we went with real flowers in the end?

Christmas this year seemed a bit like an afterthought after the wedding buzz, but was also a pretty good time.  My brother was home from college, and it's always a good time having everyone home...even if we are only missing one most of the time.  I think it's really just great being home...

Anyway, 2012 has been somewhat uneventful to be honest.  No big trips or disasters, but I'd say it's been pretty good so far all in all.  I'm still employed and am not minding so much.  It's getting up early that kills me, but it's hardly something I can avoid.

And finally, the picture above... I actually chose this picture because it's the only picture I've taken since my last blog post...  Very sad.  But somewhat relevant.  Some things that this picture says about me:

  • Panera Bread has been my favorite place to eat since I came home to Kansas.
  • I have never liked lima beans...and still don't.  Even at Panera.
  • My boyfriend thinks that hating both lima beans and carrots is ridiculous, but still takes me to Panera on a regular basis :)
